ELD/ELAC
The English Learner Services Department and Language Assessment Center are dedicated to ensuring English Learners (EL) in the Capistrano Unified School District receive appropriate instructional support focusing on English language development.
Our primary role is English language assessment using the English Language Proficiency Assessment of California (ELPAC) to guarantee proper placement in an instructional program as well as annual language assessment to monitor our English Learner's path to English proficiency. Furthermore, we provide support to our EL students, their families, and schools in the form of translation and interpretation. You are invited to visit our office anytime for information regarding district-sponsored resources, upcoming events, and other community information.
ELAC: The English Learner Advisory Committee is made up of parents of English learners that recommend to SSC regarding how to help ELs, the importance of attendance, and completing a needs assessment. Most ELACs meet at least four times a year.
